Welcome to my "Vintage" galleries. Most of these images are in Black & White and were processed and printed by me in the 1980's - examples reproduced on this page.

The subjects are of people, places and events mostly taken in and around my home town of South Molton in North Devon. Two projects were of particular interest to me at the time :

1) The human body within the landscape. Inspired by the likes of Bill Brandt and Fay Godwin, I have explored my own response to the subject.

2) "The Gathering", an event which took place annually at The Barnstaple Inn in South Molton on Carnival night. This was the occasion when local gypsy families gathered for a social get together. I took a series of photographs of these lively folk over a few consecutive years in the 1980's.

ALso included here are a series of colour photographs taken during the blizzard of 1978. These have badly deteriorated over the years but have now been extensively worked on and appear in these galleries.

After 40 years or so, I have understandably lost contact with many of the subjects of so many of my photographs. It would be wonderful if anyone can identify a friend or aquaintance and direct them to the photographs within these galleries so that they may (hopefully) enjoy seeing them here.
